The girls played in a 3 team setup organised by NUFC Kicks on Saturday 18th December. Some of the best players in the north east were involved as well as teams from West End and Boldon being invited. Wideopen Girls finished 4th below the Kicks teams and gave a very good account of themselves.

The Wideopen Girls were also asked to be mascots at the NUFC Women's game against Stockport County on Syunday 19th December.

Donations for 'Families 1st'

A massive 'Thank You' to all parents and coaches who donated items for the charity collection. Families 1st came down on Sunday 12th December to collect the donations and get them ready for distribution. They were blown away by your kindness.

Donations came from across the football club as well as Soccer Skills and Wildcats. This will make a huge difference to the local community Thank you to all involved, especially the ladies who set this up and sold raffle tickets. The image below shows the huge amount of donations.

Seniors Pathway for Younger Players
Early in April, when football was allowed to return, the Senior team held a training session which included players from the junior teams. This is a great way for junior players to experience senior football and provides a pathway for them to move into adult football when appropriate. Ethan Cole from the U16 Wanderers along with Isaac Douch and George Wilson from the U17 Wolves played 90 minutes. All 3 were a credit to their teams, coaches and the club. The coaching staff from the Senior team are in constant communication with the U16 and U17s coaches with regard to further opportunities.
Owen Mitchell, another U16 player who has previously represented Wideopen as a junior, has also rejoined the club officially signing for the Seniors.

Great Success from the U9s - Nathaniel Waldock has been signed by Newcastle United Under 9s. Congratulations Nathaniel. Everyone at Wideopen Football Club wishes you all the best on this amazingly exciting next step in your football career.
Matchday App
The Matchday app will be used by coaches and Team Secretaries in Wideopen FC to communicate with parents / guardians / players over 16 about training sessions, games etc. Letting coaches / team secretaries know about player availability for a game can be done through the app. It will also link to the Fulltime website where fixtures and results are displayed (no results published for teams below Under 11s). This should be a very useful tool for everyone. Click on the image opposite to access instructions about how to download the app and log in. Any questions - email info@wideopenfc.net

WIdeopen Football Club (junior and senior teams) is a family club whose first interests are those of our members. The Managers, Coaches and Committee are a team off the pitch. Each age group is encouraged to work as a team on the pitch. Inevitably, the whole issue of football comes first and foremost and we aim to ensure that it is an enjoyable experience for the youngsters who represent Wideopen FC week in, week out, in all weathers. We continually strive for better standards in coaching qualifications, facilities, equipment, first aid / treatment of injuries, equality, disabilities, child protection issues and training, as well as further developing school and community links. We encourage fair play, sportsmanship and equity. We have the FA Charter Mark for Quality and have gained the much sought after Kitemark. Our stated aim is to increase the quality of provision for children and to continue to raise our standards in all aspects of football. At Wideopen we have always prided ourselves upon our standards in all aspects of the game. Coaching is an area in which we excel and we have qualified coaches at all levels. We also have several Referees. The facilities will be made available to all children and adults within our catchment area. WFC's website is a central source of information about the club.
